The Child (A Holiday Poem)

in poetry •  7 years ago

I took a moment to breathe,

A moment to see more clearly . . .

Auspicious tensions awesomely forgiving

Waves of redemption offered for sinning

Hearts like minds, souls like goals

Steps in time as passions fold

What dreams are dreams that are not sought?

What stars have fallen that were not caught?

Dream to build a bridge from reality, don’t stop

Always forward like the direction of a plot

Older and wiser, colder and by the fire

Solemnly written as the truth transpires

Destiny is legendary, steps aren’t as varied

Staircase not as dreary, light at the end… I can see it clearly

Foreshadowed with the Son at my back

Lil’Shadowed, my Son’s eyes on my track

Examples are like programming for kids

Words are lessons they can forget

Memories are made in the moments between distractions

Time is relentless evaporating good intentions from actual infractions

Some day, I’ll try to explain, understanding is a foundational thing

The strongest boxer doesn’t always walk out of the ring,

And if it weren’t for Him, I wouldn’t have a thing.
