Today I am reading Four Men in a Car by Phillip Dacey.
Dacey taught at Minnesota State University, Marshall, and I was able to hear him read many times. And his readings were never dull. He memorized his poems (as every poet should) and performed them, instead of simply reciting from a book.
Sadly, Dacey passed away recently. But he left behind quite a legacy, with more than a dozen collections of poetry and innumerable writers that he inspired. Me being one of them.
