Letting GO [Poem]

With winter round the corner
My thoughts turn back to you
The fun we used to have
The things we used to do
How you sheltered me from storms
Kept the cold at bay
Wrapped your arms around me
In the cold light of the day

Now your arms wrapped round another
As you snuggle by the hearth
I wonder if she realizes
One day you’ll break her heart
You’ll leave her for another
Just like you did to me
I thought we would last forever
But it wasn’t meant to be

Now winter’s round the corner
The cold days will arrive
I’ll snuggle by the fire
Wipe the tear drops from my eyes
I will rise up from the ashes
It’s time to let you go
Repair my broken heart
And welcome in the snow
