FIRST QUATRAIN
"Am still young as the rivers that flow
Chasing the wild which wanes
Though the blossom is all but show
That which is sweet also pains"
These first four lines represents the early life discoveries made by a young fellow. The first line in one perspective suggests the subject is most likely a male, though from another perspective it suggests she is a female just as strongly, which makes the reader's perception open ended.
He/she basks in youthfulness and pursues the attendant desires of the age. And as is wont to happen with youthful desires, he/she soon discovers that fun in most cases has little relevance but comes with grave consequences...
SECOND QUATRAIN
Goodness wears the garment same as darkness
Man tries hard but the land is barren
When none can, then only him can harness
As the sky is large, so my eyes are laden
Given the beginning of this poem, these four lines seem confusing. However, i think here the subject realises that the difficulties of life are the same for all men, it affects the best and worst of men alike, and no one is spared. As the last of the above four lines suggests, the sky is large enough for everyone, but where exactly do you want to begin the search for your own niche? When there is an abundance of space, there arises the problem of where to begin...
FINAL QUATRAIN
Even as am saddled across on the ferry
My sleep is sweet as the mulberry
The light of hope burns in glee
For that which I seek lies here in me
Here, the subject comes to the most important realization that sets him free and on the right path. He discovers that rather than search the seemingly endless sky of life for his own niche, he ought to simply look at himself... What would set him off and show him the way is not without, but as the title shows, within me...
To round off my appreciation of this poem, here is a little muse of my own which particularly mirrors the first quatrain...
Excellent appreciation. Thumbs up.
