Poetry Corner: Pleasant Memories

in poetrycorner •  8 years ago

The crashing waves of my childhood,
Still draw me to that shore.
Where I'd learn of boats and seashells,
Tides and so much more.

Where my friends and I would play all day,
Where dad would barbeque.
Where mom would waste the day away,
As a soft cool wind blew.

I think back to better days,
Better in my mind.
I know the truth is harsh,
Yet impossible to find.

As memories fade and twist and bend,
As our minds attempt to mend.
