1rst Place - @danmaruschak

The Seasons Turn

"This solstice is winter's first bite at the apple
Icy fingers reach in from tent up to chapel
Not a roll of the dice like a bolt from the blue
But celestial clockwork that always comes due"
Excerpt by @danmaruschak

"Your poem hit home. We truly must count our blessings every day and as we reflect during this holiday season and winter solstice, we must remember that there are those that don't have shelter or food. And no matter what may not have happened or come to pass as we may have wanted in our life this year if we have food clothing and shelter and a warmth from the biting cold, then indeed we are truly blessed. As I look at where I am now compared to this time last year I smile and find peace with my life and I give thanks. I am so glad our paths crossed in this way @danmaruschak. Thank you for your entry in the PDC so glad you joined us. - @rensoul17"

"This poem truly rings home!" - @robyneggs

2nd - Place - @pyrowngs

Solstice

"This Solstice is just hours away.
The coldest night comes quickly
And then passes right away.
Like the sentiments of peace
People sprinkle here and there,
Just like sugar on the cookies
That they send out everywhere."
Excerpt by @pyrowngs

"@pyrowngs reading your poem carries me on a journey where i felt like I was walking through communities and connecting with the actions of people as they go through their ceremonial rituals of this solstice season. And you made it look easy. Bravo and thank you for your entry. - @rensoul17"

"I love the metronome image addition. The solstice happens on point each half and quarter Mark of the year. It helps us keep time as humans. Time is such a fascinating element of our world, now and then. Cheers! - @robyneggs"

Poetry Dice Entry PDC3K20. Solstice theme

"This solstice is the strangest time,
I too choose juxtaposing rhyme.
Unlike our philosophers divine,
My own words somewhat less refined.

I do know of a thing or two,
Of solstice games somewhat askew."
Excerpt by @girlbeforemirror

"I love it, and I felt the flow of this one, great work @girlbeforemirror - @rensoul17"
"Ooooh!! I love the dark you brought!!!!!! - @robyneggs"

P.S.

Use the "onehumanbasket" tag to get my 100% (real person) upvote.

  • Use the tag "onehumanbasket" on photography, art or other types of posts besides poetry. Posts using both "poetry" and "onehumanbasket," however, will remain higher priority vote, since I wish to curate the poetry community specifically.
  • I also host a weekly poetry dice contest. Official entries to the Poetry Dice Challenge 3000 (PDC3K) will have the highest priority vote. Please only use the "poetrydice" tag for official entries to the contest. Abusers will be flagged.
  • I also curate posts using just the "poetry” tag.
  • Any left-over voting power gets used for highly selective posts that I hope contribute to the "onehumanbasket" feel. (This includes nonsensical dTube videos and my own posts.)
Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.
