Day 8 of my 500k hands poker challenge.

in poker •  7 years ago  (edited)

Today I played 1235 hands. Total progress is 12,390 hands out of 500k.

I have settled into trying to just enjoy what I'm doing. I did decide to build my bankroll up with absolute no risk taking. Just because I've tried that high risk approach before and it hasn't worked out as good as it did for Viktor Blom. haha.

Anyway. So now I am here, at the low stakes and I realize that I am crushing it. The only thing missing is being able to play high stakes and the value of my stack. The rest of my situation, having the time to study and play poker, being good at it, having a blog. My situation is merging very nicely to my dream scenario. And I decided to try to think of all these similarities instead of focusing on the stake. Who knows how far up I can go before getting into trouble. Maybe it's the next level, maybe it's higher up. But then I will have a good BRM and can study more, move down etc.

If anybody reads my blog posts they may conclude that this is a very impatient person. And that is exactly right, and what I'm actually working with. Because we all know these German superstars who has that extreme poker discipline and stamina etc. But for me, who is somebody who has not had that. The question is, can I change and just adopt that long term strategy?

I think this is an interesting question for a lot of people playing poker. Maybe they think they are winning players, but they really are not when it comes down to all the stakes they've played combine. They win a lot and then lose it as they go up and play higher. And the only real solution to building a bankroll is to have patience and do it the right way. It's like building a card house. You have to do every floor of it from the ground up.

Anyway, this is a ramble. But today I have a really good mindset. I have watched a great video on youtube and have learned a couple of new details relating to ICM. Which is not so relevant when I'm playing cash games but it was interesting :)
