Best Kind of Policing: Rescuing 6 Year Old Girl from Kidnapper

in police •  3 years ago

A 6 year old girl had been playing outside when an alleged kidnapper recently took the opportunity to target her.
One person in the community noticed the incident, started following the vehicle and reported it to authorities.

The person who had seen the incident had been able to report part of the license plate to authorities and details about the car, that is when multiple police cars in the region started searching for the little girl.

There was footage that had shown the girl being rescued by police within 30 minutes of her abduction. This is a situation that could have turned out differently, but thankfully they were able to get there in time before she had been harmed.

Police were able to get there in time to save her but for thousands of other children who get kidnapped they aren't as lucky. This isn't the first time a child had been taken when playing out in the community of course, other similar stories have also recently gone viral.

In some of those instances the children had only been playing outside for a few minutes before being targeted and taken. What are the chances someone threatening would be driving by at that time in that area? It leads some to wonder how serious the prevalence of these predators really is if this is the case in so many neighborhoods around the United States and other regions. There is no shortage of footage of people trying to kidnap children, even right out of grocery carts while their parents are standing nearby.

Authorities don't want to sound the alarm but want parents to keep in mind that the threat is real, no matter what community you might live in.

Thousands of children are reported missing in the United States each year. For a variety of reasons it is difficult to truly have an honest sense of the underlying threat that is present in communities around the country. But considering the amount of frequent stings that authorities in the U.S. and around the world engage in, and the hundreds of thousands of predators that they catch from those efforts, it's safe to assume there are many of them out there.
