STRAIGHT TO THE POINT Political Spectrum Analysis. Will you be surprised by your results?

I have seen many a political spectrum quizzes in my day, none worse than the one I took in 8th grade. The questions couldn't have been more leading for an indoctrinated mind such as my own and all of my classmates. "Should government help the poor?", "Should we feed the starving?", "House the homeless?", all ridiculously emotionally charged questions for a simple mind to respond with, "But of course!, Won't someone please think of the children?!?" Of course my classmates and myself wanted these things to be taken care of, but we were not taught that the free market even existed. I tested out (shockingly!) as a democrat! I was raised in a conservative household and held those beliefs very close to my chest. So to see that my political identity was the exact opposite was morally and cognitively confusing for my 14 year old brain.

So I've chosen not to partake in political spectrum quizzes since then because they all seem to be loaded with emotional seeking responses. Until I ran across this one the other day and a few questions right off that bat were at the crux of what led me to where I am today. I won't get into the specific questions, and will rather just say that this quiz is probably like no other political spectrum quiz you've taken before. I didn't come up with it and I don't know who did, but it asks direct, specific and non-vague questions (did I clarify well enough there that the questions are to the point? specific? and might make you feel uncomfortable?...good!) to identify where your beliefs lie on the political spectrum.

You will probably be surprised with the outcome if you answer the questions honestly, most likely because you have never been asked questions like this before.

I would be delighted if not only you would take this questionnaire, but share with me where you originally thought you sat on the chart, and where the quiz placed you based on your responses.

I am putting the link HERE again in case you missed it above that will take you to the quiz website. Thanks for reading and hopefully participating!

Anarcho-capitalist, happy to see that on the list.

"Parents should be free to abuse or neglect their children without fear of intervenion" was a little vague. Intervention from who?

Yeah, you're right. I think there were 2 or 3 questions asked like this. I spent a few more minutes on these ones trying to process the question. I saw most of the other questions include "government" in the question, so since that word was lacking, I assumed them to mean free market. Such as...[In a free market] 'parents should be free to abuse or neglect their children without fear of intervention'.

I don't think you or I would proudly stand by watching our neighbor beat their kids, so you can probably figure out how I answered it.

Even if you interpreted a few questions incorrectly, I believe there were enough questions overall to give a good basis for your beliefs.

What counts as interfering?
If the neighbors 5 year old knocks on my door all banged up, I'm making up the spare bed and he can stay as long as he wants.
Is that interfering?

I suppose it could mean different things under different circumstances. But in general, if a child is in harms way one way or another, I think most would agree that the best situation for that child would be to get away from that harm...to what extent and for how long? I would say that's a case by case basis.

Currently all we have is CPS to intervene which has proven not to be the best at solving these issues, and usually making the problem worse.

I'm not a central planner so I won't say 'this is how it needs to be handled!', but I think we would both agree that a free market solution would be better than the current government solution.

I imagine the worst parents would sell their children; given the opportunity.
Its a pity they can't.

The thought of selling your child seems absolutely disgusting to me. But in reality, if you're such a shitty human being that you would actually even consider selling your child, then you probably should because anyone you sell them to is going to do a helluva better job raising them than they would, imho.

It was the topic that finally pushed me full ancap.
I should post about it :)

I’ve always appreciated your perspective on these matters. I’m looking forward to it!
