The young believe energy cooperation, not shared values are EU's backbone

The Berlin Policy Journal publishes a new YouGov poll for the TUI Foundation showing a great deal of doubt about the EU project among the young (16 to 26). Three out of four believe that economic cooperation, rather than shared values is the key to EU. One out of three argues that the EU should return power to national government and only 18% believe that there is a shared culture in Europe. These attitudes are closer to the original Treaty of Rome ideas of four basic freedoms (freedom of travel of people, goods, capital and services) than the bureaucratic morass the EU has become.
