Gas prices and politicians: The usual blame game

in politics •  3 years ago

Listening to politicians talk is just a maddening experience. It doesn't matter to me if they are Republican or Democrat the words that come out of their mouths with rare exceptions are simply to tow the party line and point the finger at the other guys. The current President and his administration are accepting zero responsibility for the skyrocketing costs of fuel and say that they have no control over it yet if anything even close to this had happened when Trump was President you can be guaranteed that they and the media would treat it as if it was Trump himself and only him that was responsible for this.

They would have made it appear as though he has some sort of magic machine in his office that directly controls the price of gasoline and that he was driving up prices just to screw over the American people. Yet here we are, with team blue in office and nothing bad that happens is ever their fault.

Now even though I think Biden is useless and isn't really in charge of anything including the words that come out of his own mouth, I understand that there are a lot of other factors at play when the price of anything goes up or down. However, in this particular instance one of the first things that the Biden administration did when he took office last year was to eliminate the United States' energy independence. This was all done under the guise of transitioning to renewable energy, which I think basically everyone can agree would be a good idea but anyone with some sensibility has to realize that this is not a switch that you can just turn off and on at will.

The elimination of domestic energy production seemed spiteful and had everything to do with undoing everything that Trump had accomplished. Now they wont go back on that even though it certainly would be a good thing because if there is one thing that politicians hate to do the most it is to admit that they made a mistake.

This is why I have no faith in politicians and no, this is not a pro-Trump post. There are zero politicians out there that will take responsibility for their actions and admit that what they did was anything less than the most perfect decision ever.

I don't believe that Biden has the mental capacity to actually understand any of this and his handlers or puppet masters are simply telling him to blame everything on Russia. The good news is that I don't think anyone is actually buying this horse-shit. You can't just blame everything on Russia the way that they and the liberal media have been doing since 2016 and expect people to still believe it.

Bonus points for being old enough to understand the above reference btw.

The blaming of everything on Russia began in 2016 and basically continued throughout Trump's entire Presidency. There were some crazies out there that actually believed it too but I think this had more to do with hating Trump than actually believing that Russia was responsible for anything.

It's tough for politicians to dance around something like energy prices skyrocketing but that doesn't stop them from trying. The good news is that I think most people realize that when energy prices jump like this and the last guy in office was really proud of the fact that we were no longer dependent on foreign oil and the new guy put a stop to that on day one, it is kind of difficult for people not blinded by party affiliation to realize that there is one side that is more responsible than the other.

No one will take responsibility for this and the media is of course doing everything they can to blame it on anything other than Democrats. One particularly stupid comment was made by a guy that does not deserve his job at all named Pete Buttigieg when he said "gas prices rising wouldn't matter if you had just bought a Tesla!"

Yeah, great answer you jackass. A real great way to tell the common man that they did the wrong thing is to tell people who live paycheck to paycheck that the only thing they had to do to avoid paying $5 a gallon for gas was to purchase a $70,000 car. It's all your fault for being poor! Just stop being poor!

And "fact" "checkers" are on the White House side, ignoring the lies about Russian inflation

I don't think that any rational person pays a great deal of attention to "fact checkers" anymore and this is a good thing.

it's not that we want to; they pop up like telemarketers
