Why vote for Johnson?

Most Americans plan to vote against Hillary or Trump. They are not voting FOR either of them, but rather, they fear/despise/disagree strongly with one of them in particular and therefore feel compelled to vote for the "lesser of two evils." This is, of course, still voting for evil. Most voters recognize that they are in an ugly situation.

Rather than voting for the lesser of the two evils, I plan to vote FOR Johnson. He is not a great candidate, but he is certainly not evil, and he is the only third party candidate with a chance at all of throwing the election. Johnson is on the ballot in all 50 states and DC - something that no third party candidate has been able to accomplish in decades. He is popular in New Mexico, where he was governor for two terms (8 years). He is also popular in some of the other Western States, and new Hampshire is increasingly Libertarian. If Hillary's health scare helps Trump, it is possible that we could have a near tie scenario. In such a situation, if Johnson wins just one state, he could become President (see map for an example). Johnson simply needs to win a few electoral votes while denying both Hillary and Trump 270 electoral votes (a near tie). This would send the election to Congress, where the House will choose from the top 3 for POTUS and the Senate from the top 2 for VP (Weld, I am happy to say, has no chance).

A Johnson/Pence White House would be far better than a Trump or Hillary Presidency if only because Johnson does not have strong allies in Congress, and thus the Constitutional Conservatives would have more leverage. That would include Cruz. Increasing power for Cruz seems like our best shot right now.

The main objection I have heard to this plan is that Johnson is not pro-life. Actually, he is the only one of the top three candidates who is pro-life (see his website) but it is true that he is not willing to stand up for the pro-life movement. However, he DOES say he will push for strict Constructionalist SCOTUS judges. If he does this, they will send the abortion issue back to the states, where it belongs, and we can outlaw murder again.

Ugh Johnson thinks Hillary is a wonderful person and is ok with forced inoculations. No thanks.

He says it should be a local government decision. It is also consistent with the Libertarian position of not harming others that you should not be permitted to infect them with deadly diseases with impunity. I am in favor of people who do not want to obtain vaccines putting themselves in isolation by using masks in public.

That's not what he said in this interview

Why vote at all? The system is rigged anyway - the quicker people wake up to THIS the better.

Good article though, just because I don't agree, doesn't mean I don't appreciate the point of view :)
