Politically, I have always leaded to the left. My political history and belief structure is based on Marxism. But Marx only told half the story. Marx neglected the role of reproductive labour in the production of new labour units - a gap which feminists have filled in ever since. Labour - in the form of gestating, birthing, nurturing and caregiving - is required in order to produce future labour units and this is at the root of the oppression of the female sex. A mode of production that Marx never fully tackled.
Pololinsky traced this production back further. In "Human Labour and the Unity of Force", as well as pointing out the reproductive labour that goes into the creation of labour units, he also explored the non-human labour in animal form which was not formally accounted for, and beyond that to how animal labour is itself produced – from calorific intake – and traced it all back to its common denominator. For Podolinsky, the LRTV was just a special case of an energy related theory of value, where human labour is just a particular form of energy.
The de-facto base currency of the current fiat economic system. Dollar dominance is only possible through energy scarcity, and the ability of the state which issues the dollar to secure that scarce energy. Consequently it is more profitable to launch expensive and destructive conflicts to secure it, rather than to invest in research to harness it more effectively. Under dollar dominance, acquired energy is deployed destructively to ensure ongoing control over sources of future energy, paid for through debt.
With crypto with bitcoin as the dominant base currency, this relationship between money and energy is inversed. Under a proof of work algorithm, the more efficiently energy can be harnessed, the greater the rewards. In this manner past energy is directly monitized, as the blocks which are mined at the present time have the purchasing power of the current energy deployment, but also every past bitcoin, which collects or dissipates other forms of past energy in its exchange. Bitcoin harnesses the value of energy, then diffuses it through the crypto-economic system.
This provides it with a materially based scheme of value, rather than one based on the vaguarities of state power. Understanding this is the key to understanding the whole basis of the crypto-economy, which reverses the temporial direction of the relationship between energy and value.
(Note: there is a small bounty on this post as I would like to reward thoughtful responses. I am unsure of how to use the bounty system however, and if any reader would like to explain how use it, I'd make sure that one of the bounties went the way of the best explanation)
