Europol, like any active organization in the world, has its goals and tasks. The tasks are to facilitate the exchange of information, the analysis of specific problematic situations and the coordination of operations between EU Member States.
Regarding this organization's concern, it is established that the Member States of the European Union and their competent authorities fighting terrorism, illegal trafficking, illegal migration and money laundering will be linked and coordinated at a higher level. The European Union is growing and the growth itself and the challenges it faces should also take into account the new problems that have arisen and which are a consequence of the modern times in which we live (such as cybercrime).
The most common challenges facing the Union are related to drug trafficking and nuclear and radioactive substances, trafficking in human beings and human organs, and the prevention of smuggling of illegal migrants. As the emigration crisis and the smuggling of illegal migrants are at stake, this is becoming a major issue in the European Union and is the main agenda for all meetings within the framework of the Union. The efficiency and the purity of this organization has been proven many times throughout the history of the Union, and it remains to be he sees how to put this biggest test and the biggest problem facing this organization, probably since its inception.
The power of Europol is of a different kind and is expressed through the collection of valuable data for Member States and their analysis. Members of Europol can not carry out investigative actions independently or arrest criminals. This organization is not a transnational police body, but an auxiliary body to the national authorities of the Member States
Europol is not a member state's national police, but certainly its role is very big because it links, informs and coordinates parties that together have the power to deal with the threats of the 21st century.
There are many challenges that this organization will have to face in the future. Illegal migrations and smuggling of people are shaking the Union every day. Controls have been strengthened and Europol and the system under which it operates will have a large share in helping countries to be illegal. Apart from the problem of smuggling people, this crisis also has the danger of terrorism and the smuggling of illicit weapons. The information that Europol has on these issues will be crucial for member states to tackle this crisis, which brings with it a number of problems. Therefore, we see that the role of Europol will be one of the key in the near future, that its impact will significantly increase and that there is a high probability of expanding competencies.
Given that the Western Balkans should become part of the European Union in the near future, it should be expected that this agency will grow and develop further so that it can efficiently act and inform all members. It is impossible to observe the further development of the European Union and to fight the challenges without destroying the development of this organization and considering the further development of Europol's techniques.
