Kate's Law Protects Illegal Immigrants

in politics •  8 years ago

As I watch the completion of the Sunday news cycle, it occurs to me that none of the pundits have mentioned that the passing of Kate's Law not only protect American Citizens- IT WILL ALSO PROTECT the majority of Illegal Immigrants.

KATE'S LAW IS NOT ABOUT IMMIGRATION REFORM

One of the arguments provided by the opposition to Kate's Law is that "what we really need is Immigration Reform".  I contend that Immigration Reform is a completely separate issue.  And this type of response from the opposition is merely a diversionary tactic to be used because they have no defense to justify that this is a bad law.

Kate's Law is intended to weed out the "bad element" of illegal immigrants that habitually break the laws of the United States.  Let's face it, the fact that Illegal Immigrants by default broke the law when they chose to come to this country without going through the established legal process (however, broken that process may be.)

Illegal Immigrants know that they are taking a risk by entering the Untied States.  Kate's Law just increases their risk and increases the sentences and consequences for multiple offenders and the Illegal Criminal element.

KATE'S LAW PROTECTS THE MAJORITY OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS AS WELL

I keep hearing that the majority of the Illegal Immigration is from good people that are just looking for a better opportunity.  Other than initially breaking the law by coming here illegally, they are generally a law abiding group of people.  I am sure that this is the case.  Most are good people.  While Kate's Law may bring a few unintended consequences, it will for the most part protect those law abiding illegals.

A law abiding illegal alien stands just as much chance if not more of a chance of being a victim of the criminal illegal immigrant as a legal citizen or  legal immigrant.  So from my perspective the law abiding illegal immigrant should benefit from the implementation of Kate's Law as well.

Maybe I am missing something but opposing this law doesn't make any sense to me.  I would welcome some education from the opposition as to why I am misinformed.  Please let me know your thoughts.

hello @joelfriendman.
though am not in the US nor am i from there, but the little i know about law is that, its no respecter of man, and ignorance to it is in no way an excuse. i don't know much about the law, but from what you have said, it seeks to make illegal entry more had. the issue is that, right from the inception, Mr. Trump has made so much threat to the illegal immigrants that every thing and any thing He says or any law about that is viewed as being targeted against the immigrants. but truth be told, the man is just looking out for his country, nothing personal. He who seeks equity should come with clean hands.
