Dear Governor General,
Do you believe the GG has the authority given to him by the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Australia or is the position merely cosmetic these days?
If so: When did this massive change to the manner in which our country is overseen change? I see no legislation enacted after a referendum that would make this the case, and any such act passed without referendum would be illegal.
If you still have the authority I implore you to look into the vast tracts of legislation passed which effectively wallpaper over the constitution and the common law which according to the constitution is illegal and should not have been approved by the Attorney General or your predecessors.
Am I mistaken? Are you the impartial, unbribeable umpire of Australian politics as intended or has your office been corrupted into a mere public paper figurehead.
I look forward to your reply.
Stephen Ford
