Should anybody has the right to vote?

in politics •  7 years ago

The internet these days seems to be filling up with ill-educated people and trolls. The reflection on society has been somewhat disheartening. I see it daily especially on Facebook, the sharing of unbelievable rubbish that has not been researched and contains no truth.

This sort of rubbish is designed to influence the weak minded and sway their vote. It inspires hatred and nationalism in the worst possible ways. It divides us, gives us people like Trump, May and Macron. People such as Farage, Robinson and Alex Jones. These people are the worst manifestation of society. It gives us Brexit and trade wars. It all seems to come back to the availability of a platform from which they spew their diatribes and line their own pockets.
Whats most alarming is how these people are so easily lead. Like a trained dog on a leash. This being the case, should there be stipulations on the right to vote? Should each person's ability to vote be based on their IQ and ability to accept new ideas? Is it right that the stupid and weak minded be allowed to lead us down a path to destabilization? Or should we impose measures and restrictions for the benefit of the greater good?

It's unacceptable in the USA to argue for a literacy test. But there is some sense in culling the wheat from the chaff. You have to merit the right to vote in a real democracy. The troubles are agreeing on who merits it and how to go about instituting the selection without being unjustly discriminatory. But today the prevailing belief is that everyone is entitled to the privileges of citizenship and there is a hyper sensitivity to all forms of discrimination.

Yet another failing of democracy. The system is half the problem.

The other being the financial and monetary system in your opinion?

Democracy is the most deceitful construct in existence.

Okay it's the second worst after fiat money.

Democracy is the illusion of power. It's the way to get people to do the bidding of those in power, while conning the people into believing that they have in say in how their lives are run.
