Trump disappoints with a move from The Swamp's playbook

White House officials said the administration will establish a federal commission to assess how to best address gun violence in schools, though it will not propose any legislation of its own.

This is very disappointing. Coming just a few days after Florida made a big step forward when Gov Rick Scott signed a school safety bill that:

  • creates new mental health programs
  • establishes an anonymous tip line for reporting threats
  • improves communication between schools, law enforcement and state agencies
  • raises the minimum age to buy rifles from 18 to 21,
  • extends a three-day waiting period for handgun purchases to include long guns
  • bans bump stocks, which allow guns to mimic fully automatic fire
  • creates a guardian program enabling some teachers and other school employees to carry guns.

They need a commission for studying school safety not gun violence. Restricting the rights of law-abiding citizens will never fix the problem.

Andrew Pollack has been great at keeping people focused on school safety.

Nice post..& great news..i really love uour all post..thanks for sharing with us.. dear @ozphil

Well of course he did. His comments about gun laws were made on the hoof, like most things he does, and his paymasters (the NRA) have slapped him into line.

He made more comments today saying some of the other changes have little political support

Yeah, I saw that. He is actually starting to sound a little like a politician! He has been lying like one for some time. For "little political support", read "the NRA don't like it".
