An appellate court sided with Dems to start from scratch in redistricting New York. This is one of the more consequential events for the 2024 election. If Dems succeed with redrawing the map they could get possibly 5 or 6 more seats out of it. It'd more than offset the expected losses in North Carolina from Republican gerrymandering.
For context here ahead of the 2022 Midterms the courts threw out the map Dems had drawn and instead a map drawn by the courts was used. That map is still in place and the Dems are trying to get it removed, so they can redraw the districts from scratch.
