After dropping out of the race and endorsing Trump, RFK, Jr. will surely transfer the brain worm to him, and share his supply of high-quality road kill meat!
On a slightly more serious note, RFK, Jr. has now fully completed his journey from being a left-wing conspiracy-mongering troll to being a right-wing one. He himself hasn't changed much in his views. The real change has been the ideological valence of the kind of claptrap he peddles. It used to be that big pharma/antivaxxer conspiracy theories (which RFK, Jr. has promoted for decades) and election conspiracy theories (recall RFK Jr. claiming the 2004 election was stolen from John Kerry by Bush and Dominion) were primarily a far left thing. Ditto for sympathy for anti-American dictators, like Putin. Now these ideas have mostly migrated to the right, and in many cases become more mainstream there than they previously were on the left.
So it's not so much that RFK, Jr. has moved right as that the right has moved towards him! Maybe he's more influential than he seems.
Not that I expect logical coherence from him. But if the Democrats and Harris are as awful as RFK, Jr. said today, why did he just recently lobby Kamala for a position in her cabinet in exchange for an endorsement? And if it's so awful to nominate a candidate who didn't participate in primaries, why was it OK for RFK, Jr. himself to run for president without first participating in a primary process?
We don't yet know if Trump promised RFK, Jr. a position in exchange for his endorsement. But if he did, that's yet another reason to vote against Trump (not that I really need more).
Finally, we'll have to see whether RFK, Jr.'s endorsement makes a difference in the race. If it does, the effect will be small. But a small effect might still matter in a close race. It all comes down to what percentage of his voters have Trump as their second choice (polls diverge on that), and whether any meaningful number will be guided by his endorsement.
