Unless you are specifically aiming to disempower people who you disagree with (a power that may be turned on you if it is allowed to exist) then the majority should always win (within any constitution that exists).
If you believe some people are voting for someone they think is 'morally better' than they, then they should be expected to defer to that persons view in any subequent referendum or other measure of the majority view on a particular subject. If they voted simply for a 'delegate' thhey need to be able to override any choices their 'delegate' would get wrong.
