Thoughts on Peter Thiel's Speech at the RNC?

Curious to hear people's thoughts on Peter Thiel's speech at the RNC yesterday. Incredibly smart, respect him immensely as an entrepreneur and investor, but found myself more than a little annoyed by some of his obvious pandering. That said, he does bring up some of the more serious (and painfully obvious) economic problems the USA is facing. His presentation style also weirded me out a little bit -- he's much better in an interview setting. Thoughts?
