DOJ Demands Information of 1.3M People Who Visited Trump Resistance Site

DreamHost, a web host provider, said the Department of Justice has requested visitor information to a Trump resistance website, a move that violates the constitution.

The company published the search warrant issued by the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, and said the request would require handing over about 1.3 million visitors contact information and IP addresses of Trump Inauguration Day protesters, as well as information on the website and its owner.

“That information could be used to identify any individuals who used this site to exercise and express political speech protected under the Constitution’s First Amendment,” DreamHost said in a blog post. “That should be enough to set alarm bells off in anyone’s mind.”

“In essence, the Search Warrant not only aims to identify the political dissidents of the current administration, but attempts to identify and understand what content each of these dissidents viewed on the website,” Chris Ghazarian of the company said in a statement.

DreamHost is challenging the request with a hearing is set for Friday.
