Rocky Gerung was born in Manado, North Sulawesi, on January 20, 1959.
He studied at the University of Indonesia in 1986 and earned his Bachelor of Letters (S.S).
Rocky Gerung is now a lecturer in the Department of Faculty of Humanities (formerly Faculty of Letters) University of Indonesia, Jakarta.
He is also a researcher at the Democratic Education Association (P2D).
