PolySwarm Deep Dive (Can AntiVirus Engines Be Decentralized?)

in polyswarm •  7 years ago

IT security threats are going to continue to increase so can there be a blockchain solution to help protect companies and individuals from these threats? In this review we are looking into the PolySwarm ICO that is going to start on Feb. 20th. There is a $50 Million cap on the ICO and there are bonuses if you get in earlier.

The project is ambitious but they have a very good team capable to getting the job done. One of the things they want to do is create an open source AntiVirus Engine that people and companies can run scans with and the solutions might be in the PolySwarm ecosystem already.

Why build this solution on a blockchain? To me it really comes down to the payments mechanism that is controlled mainly by code without a centralized authority having to intervene that much. Just like STEEM / DTube....etc.

Never thought about that aspect, it will probably get a big topic in future... Meanwhile I don't even use an antivirus on my android phone nor on Windows 10, except the built in Windows Defender or what it's called.... am I a bad person? xDD

I have never actually put an antivirus program on my Android devices and currently I don't use Windows but I kind of feel like it somewhat depends on what a person is doing. But who knows. Maybe there are hackers half way around the world watching you through your webcam. LOL

gladly there's no webcam installed :D
yeah, you're right, if you think before you click it helps quite a bit I think

Maybe you are someone who knows what they are doing and don't want to pay extra for the annoyance of Norton etc. telling you everything on your PC could be a virus :O

true, there's so much advertisement already in those products, but this, then buy that..... I want to live a quite&peaceful life ^^

I hope to see more legit Blockchain solutions in the IT security space soon. The recent hacks of .gov websites shows hot vulnerable we all are.

I think we will see something out of the space that will be helpful but it is pretty trippy how vulnerable systems are and how elite some of these hackers are and how damaging some of these exploits can be.

Interesting concept. Their solution for the Ethereum scalability issues seems to be similar to the Lightning Network for Bitcoin

The scalability issues are certainly and issue and don't hold your breath for BTC and ETH to scale tomorrow. For Bitcoin the Lightning network was proposed in early 2014 and we still don't have it in a workable form 4 years later. So I see that as being the biggest issue for PolySwarm will be running into issues with Ethereum.

Exactly, sometimes the best way forward is to start again. I'm not too familiar with EOS and ADA but i'm sure they would scale better just because they are newer and to be built with that in mind.

But it could happen that they never get off the ground either, who knows!

tnx for the latest news...u r doing ur job well.. carry on.. and break a leg for ur bright future

Very good!
I will follow your channel and await the news of ICO
This ICO seems to be very promising
