Follow Jesus: Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Luke 18:22

The gospels invite us to follow Jesus, but to do this we have to start from a well-disposed heart, we cannot enter the Kingdom of God if sin, or rather error, is a custom, a habit, or a justified way of thinking. God does not live with error, and sin puts a barrier between us and the spiritual world. This is the first condition to get closer to Jesus, in front of man there are two paths and we have to choose.
But how is this path that Jesus proposes to us? Complying with the law of Moses is something necessary to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, Jesus taught us in his dialogue with the rich young man, but we need something more, the law of Moses is not enough, and that something else is the fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity), that is why when the rich young man told Jesus that he had already fulfilled all the Law, Jesus told him:
"When Jesus heard this, he said to him, ´You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.´" Luke 18:22.
With this, Jesus told the young man that we must have a heart detached from material riches, that is, from the apparent goods, and consider the Kingdom as the most important blessing for us. And it happened that when the young man heard Jesus, he was very saddened, because you had much wealth and he could not follow him.
When we fear God and make this gift the good soil for faith, wealth ceases to be an end in itself and thus we put everything in communion with our brothers, there is no longer a "this is yours and this is mine" but rather "everything belongs to everyone", this is what Jesus wanted to say to the rich young man.
This is the way that Jesus proposes to us to obtain the beatitude and the gift of eternal life, but in us is the freedom to choose, we accept or reject the grace that Jesus places in our hearts.
