The Words in your heart, are the Works Outside (The Luckiest Man Alive)

in popcontest •  7 years ago

Note: The words you are about to read are not fictional. They represent true events at various moments of my life...

I wasn't born with a silver spoon, no, but I was born with something greater; a positive mindset. Ever since I could remember, I've always proclaimed myself to be the luckiest man alive. I do not remember how it all began, but many years later, I am quite certain that I am. Why do I say so? Well...

About ten years ago...

I'm leaning towards the tail end of my time in secondary (high) school. I should be happy (actually I am). However, something keeps tugging me at the base of my mind; my education is suffering. I had drifted so far into a world filled with sports and video games and I knew something had to give if i'm to make my final exams. Problem is, I had no idea how to stop. I was surrounded by friends whose presence made it near impossible to consciously take action. So at the back of my mind my worry stayed, but it wasn't the only thought there. Also deep in my mind was the firm belief that I remained the luckiest man alive. I knew i was brilliant, i just needed time away from my many distractions. A year before my exams, my parents moved. I found myself in a new school, no familiar faces, and i made best graduant in math, my hithertho most derided subject...

I'm on the verge of leaving the University. After four years of course I'm happy, excited actually. Something however bothers me; I'm getting out of school into a job market with too many job seekers and too little jobs. I never took any professional courses while in school to boost my chances of getting a job as I never had enough funds to make room for such. I was bothered, but I was sure of one thing; I remained the luckiest dude alive. Two weeks to the final submission of my project, I received a call. Apparently, someone had come across my regular musings on facebook and wanted to know if i would take up a job as a content writer for a startup company's online magazine. As I still had to finish my project and defend it, I turned it down and gave my reasons. After holding out for me for a month, I started work a day after defending my B.A. Thesis...

I've been working for about eight months with little or no hassles. Not until January 2018. My employers ran into a bit of financial crisis and this made payments of december salaries impossible. While outside investment was being sought, i was slowly running out of alternative sources for funds. Still, I always knew i remained the luckiest man alive, and true to form, something came along. Trust my story to end with how a wonderful stranger turned friend @emilo3 introduced me to Steemit...

Present day...

Long awaited funds have arrived, Steemit jas been and renains a wonderful experience and an added source of income... and all these why?

Because my heart always knew; I'm the luckiest man alive.

But guess what, I'm only as lucky as you are, once you believe, and buy into my positivity!
