Pope Francis Prays for Church Bomb Victims in Surabaya
The head of the worldwide Catholic church, Pope Francis, prayed for the victims of the terrorist act that bombed 3 churches in Surabaya, East Java. The Pope conveyed his proximity to the people of Indonesia.
"I am very close to the people of Indonesia, especially the Christian community in Surabaya, which is being hit by serious attacks in church," Pope said as quoted by news agency Reuters on Sunday (13/05/2018).
"Together we ask God to stop these acts of violence and (to ensure) that there is no room for hatred and violence in the hearts of all people, but reconciliation and brotherhood," the Pope added.
Earlier, National Police chief Gen Tito Karnavian said the bombing of 3 churches in Surabaya as a family consisted of father and mother and 4 children. They played their respective roles in the 3 churches of the Church of the Immaculate Santa Maria, GKI Diponegoro, and Central Surabaya Pantekosta Church of the Sawahan Community.
The family called Tito also can not be separated from the network of Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) and Jamaah Ansharut Tauhid (JAT).
"The question is which group? It is not separated from the JAD JAT group which is the main support of ISIS in Indonesia," said National Police Chief Tito Karnavian in a press conference at Bhayangkara Hospital Surabaya.
