This is a hyper realistic sketch of a family in graphite using a 0.5mm mechanical pencil and a kneaded eraser. Time to completion was roughly 7 hours. The paper I used was 220 gsm with a smooth tooth so that the skin appeared even smoother.
I made sure I took a few breaks in between but usually I will try and get the whole portrait done in a day. My wrist aches with larger pieces for sure so I have to be careful as I could end up with carpal tunnel syndrome. I had a friend who knitted dice bags for gamers and she got that when she was doing it around the clock. I set a timer so I can go for a tea break or a walk in between.
Wow! Just... impressive. 7 hours! Does your wrist ache after so much time?
