Positive Sunday Entry - FREEDOM

A grandfather walks into the VFW with his grandson one day. The grandson notices a picture of an eagle on the wall. "That's a big bird grandpa!", the child says.
"That is the American Eagle, Bennett," says the grandfather, "and it is not just a bird. It is a symbol. It is the symbol of the freedom that we are able to enjoy in this country. It represents the many men and women who have fought to protect that freedom. That bird represents the United States of America and everything that we hold dear."
The boy, still looking at the picture, says, "Yeah. And it's a very big bird."
The grandfather smiles and says, "Yes it is", then asks Nancy, the woman tending the bar, for two sodas.
"Don't tell your mom I bought you a soda. She'll have a cow."
Bennett giggles and sips from his straw. The grandfather smiles. His love of the child and the bird apparent.
