NOCEBO ...?
The negative effect of placebo is called the nocebo effect, from the Latin word nocebo which means "I want to harm." Patients given fake pills sometimes experience side effects such as anxiety and depression. This is thought to be related to people's expectations of adverse effects on a therapy. In one test people reported that women who believed they had a chance of heart disease were nearly four times more likely to die of heart disease than women with similar risk factors that did not have that trust.
The negative placebo effect, called the nocebo effect. Nocebo, like placebo, gives rise to physical effects, although not necessarily through physical mechanisms. Not impossible effect comes from the patient's belief. When people think about falling ill, it hurt him. This nocebo effect, which is opposite to the placebo effect: when people think about healing, then heal.
The type of patient most likely to experience a nocebo effect when administered a drug usually has a history of treatment with a difficult diagnosis making sure that any therapy will not solve the problem. The low expectations are inevitably bad, the effects of nocebo also affect the outcome of the operation. Surgeons are reluctant to treat patients who believe they will die. Studies have been conducted on surgical patients who say they want to die to be reunited with their loved ones. Almost all of these people are dead.
Research on nocebo is minimal, mostly for ethical reasons that doctors should not lie to healthy people by saying that they are sick. The changing ethical standards make it difficult to repeat some of the classic nocebo experiments. The latest medical article on the effects of nocebo was published in 2002 by Arthur Barsky and colleagues (The journal of the American Medical Association, volume 287, page 622).
Negative placebo effect does exist. His famous manifestations are voodoo, and the various occult being associated with the curse. Such practices almost invariably include mechanisms that make the victim know that he has been cursed, and this is the only one that allows their evil intentions to be achieved.
