PowerHouseCreatives Contest | A Week To Live (Contest Details) from @zord189

I woke up on Monday morning to a beautiful, clear and crisp day. As I opened my inbox, there was an email from @zord189 informing me that I only had one week left before I'd be leaving. You see, I've come to the end of my journey. Although I didn't think it would be this soon.

But first, I have to bring closure to my affairs. Here's my to-do list of things I need to take care of before I go.

Monday
I called the Donation Center and they're scheduled to come on Wednesday to pick up the numerous books I've accumulated over the years. I have more than one copy of each, so I'll split them with my family. I've read some amazing authors: Elle Wiesel, Taylor Caldwell, Harper Lee, Catherine Cookson, Stephen King, and James Patterson. Can't remember them all. But, I'll keep one, the King James Version, to accompany me on my new journey.

I dusted my antiques and figurines collections. Those will be left to certain individuals whom I know will cherish them as much as I do. I stopped to read a book, then quickly put it in the box, as I realized I'd never finish at this pace.

Tuesday
Today is all about my music. Can't sit too long, else I won't get anything accomplished. I love Rock and Roll. Joan Jett is one my favorites. And what can you say about Jimi Hendrix! In reflection, I can now admit I was a mini hoarder. Not junk, but albums, CDs, 8-track tapes, i.e. items you can hardly find equipment today to allow you to listen to them. I need to find family members who will appreciate them as much as I do.

Just remembered that I never started my scrap book project for the 1,000 old Polaroid pictures I have. Well, procrastination always catches up with you. Others will have to take up the mantle and move it forward. I hope they do my pictures justice.

Wednesday
My list is getting smaller. The Donation Center van is arriving today. Before they come, I need to shred some papers, while preserving other important documents from my filing cabinet. I pull out with glee several years of income taxes and fire up the shredder. Oh, happy day!.

Thursday
Today is a busy day, as I have several important tasks to take care of. Here's what I accomplished:

  • Liquidated all my assets and assigned beneficiaries;
  • Cancelled car insurance (won't need a car where I'm going);
  • Cancelled Flood Insurance (never flooded the 3,650 days I had it);
  • Called family members to hand over my RV (BlueAce) to any one of them willing to provide a loving home and utilize it for fun times like I did. Note: While I was telling them about my new journey, I noticed they weren't listening. Rather, they seemed more interested in how BlueAce functioned and last instructions. Can't blame them. I just smiled.

Friday
Great day for me. Called my doctor to tell her NO to the total knee replacement for both knees. And:

Saturday
Took a much needed break and went to the beach. Nothing but me, my recliner, and the sea breeze.

Sunday
Well, I think I've covered everything. I said "goodbye to all family and friends and wrapped up my affairs.

Fellow steemians, today is my last day at Steem. I just completed the following:

  • Written my last blog;
  • Made my last comment;
  • Curated my last blogger.
  • Transferred all my tokens; and
  • Delegated all my SP.

It's time for me to log off so that I can format my computer. Get it ready for it's new owner. I'm about to log off from online for the last time.

I look back over my past and feel no remorse. It was inevitable. No one can continue forever. I realize now that all I've been doing these years is passing through time and space. Did I leave my mark on the world? I won't be able to tell. Maybe others can expose my life as they filter and dissect my words and actions. Were they worthy?

I've never set out to offend anyone intentionally during my lifetime. If I did offend anyone, then I'd like to ask your forgiveness. As long as I feel I did the best I could will I be comfortable standing and being judged. I see now I'm headed to a holding place. I purchased my ticket long ago when I heard the call and answered it.

My week is up. I've run this race. I can now slow down and walk the rest of the way.

As I sit here looking back out from whence I came, I see now that the Book of my life has been many long winding pages through the chapters leading to this place in time.

The Final Chapter has now been written. I can sense the horizon looking over my shoulders beckoning me to come before it closes the book on my former life. I glance to the West. The cool breeze whispers my name as the ride to my next journey arrives.

Take care, everyone.
