Doom has a rich history because it was not just a game but it was a movement that changed the gaming industry forever. Doom's success paved the way for games like CS:GO, Portal 2 and countless more. DOOM released in 1993 and it became so popular people were running the game on printers or calculators. Although, the game's violence was a major problem since because school shootings were becoming prevalent and that led to a lot of backlash against the developers, ID software. Enough about the past let's talk about the newest entry from the franchise, DOOM (2016). It is a masterpiece in first-person shooters and brings back all the good memories, the maze-like levels, health and shield pickups. This game set the standard for gaming in general. This game is a must-play for newcomers and is incredibly nostalgic for others.

I've actually been doing some "historical" gaming posts lately, covering noteworthy games released in certain years (just made two about 93 and 2000) and it's really crazy to see how the three signature "id" games (Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake) being chronologically just several years apart - technologically were a whole generation ahead of each other
