Are You Prepared

Are you prepared? No I'm not a nut that has an underground shelter with five thousand meals ready to eat (MRE). However, I like to think that I would be able to provide my family with the bare essentials in the case that the things we take for granted on a daily basis become difficult to attain. For instance, I live in Alaska, every year during the winter some of the shipments that bring food to our ports become so frozen that deliveries of food are delayed. It's never been a problem to go a few days without milk or eggs but what if a scenario manifested itself that would delay the shipment of food and or other essential for a prolonged period. It is said that in our Just In Time delivery system, which is a system where the shelf's in the stores are only stocked with enough food to last three days, people would start to riot once they realized that their next meal was in question. So are you prepared for a scenario where you would be limited to what you could purchase because the shelf's in the stores are empty? Most of the time when I ask a friend or family member this question they usually reply with "that can't happen here this is America".

This is just one of the things that my son and I will be discussing.

If 5,000 MREs were the only sustenance I had I think I would wish for the end. Seriously though, most Americans (and by most I mean 99%) are not prepared for this and would have no idea what to do.

Thanks for reply. I agree with your comment and unfortunately you are correct.
