This ZeroHedge article is about a poll taken of Americans and I found this line interesting:
Most of the problems we have that aren't directly related to our immediate lives are made up!
"Most Americans are dissatisfied with the massive gap between rich and poor, race relations and environmental conditions."
What's strange about that is that this implies they are not dissatisfied with their own lives. So what are they complaining about?
They are dissatisfied with things they would not even know about were they not ingesting media.
This stuff is all abstract, disconnected from their lives and most of it could be fake. How would they know? The Media gets paid by grabbing peoples' attention with alarming headlines, even if they have to exaggerate the urgency or make it up out of thin air.
In fact, this very survey I'm talking about here might be exaggeration and fakery! :open_mouth:
Apparently they don't have enough struggle in their lives and so have to manufacture more problems in their heads.
Not only that, they look to Government to solve these imaginary problems for them, the same way peasants and serfs turned to God in the Middle Ages.
People actually think the Government can solve these problems, even though these problems have existed for decades if not centuries and government has been working on it all that time (race relations, the massive gap between rich and poor and there have always been people screaming about the end of the world from global warming, cooling, pollution). Yeah, ok, acid rain did get cleared up. That was one of the few environmental issues that was a real problem.
So people think the government is now God and can solve these problems with a wave of its mighty hand (passing laws). I mean, they ascribe to government the powers they use to assign to God.
God can heal the sick. Government can spend its infinite power (money) on research to cure diseases.
God can protect us from invading armies. Our military protects us! (even though if you ask people what is the biggest danger to their freedom they'll say their own government, not terrorists).
God can make us rich and prosperous! The Government can tweak the economy and bring us prosperity, bring prosperity to our posterity!
You get the idea.
