December is my birthday month.
I have been giving out some incredible tips to my customers and to potential customers over the past couple of weeks to help them get focused for 2018. One of the main issues that people have been having is that they do not make time for action. They get started with a task, but immediately find themselves scrolling through social media, reading about how other folks are taking action, watching cute animal videos, or even waking up from the couch 2 hours later thinking, “What happened?”
I have been recommending an app to those who ask that has been SUPER helpful to me in my goal-achieving. The app is called “BeFocused”, and it is based on the Pomodoro method.

If you have not heard of this, the Pomodoro method is all about blocks of 25 minutes. You set a timer for 20 minutes and you focus on NOTHING but getting a big task done. Whether it is writing a chapter of your new book, cleaning out a closet for charity, sewing an outfit to sell on Etsy or EBay, creating your social media content for the week, or working on a school assignment, turn off all distractions and work for that 20 minutes. After the 20 minutes is over, you get a short 5 minute break to stretch or grab some water. Then you start the cycle over again. After 3 complete cycles, you can take a longer 15 minute break.
Take a moment to think about how much you can accomplish in 60 minutes, if you are totally focused. It’s really cool when you consider the possibilities, right?? Even if you only can use that one 20 minute cycle because you have so much to do - that 20 minutes toward your goal is absolutely GOLDEN.
This smartphone app is free, but you can upgrade to the PRO version for $1.99 to get rid of the ads and to be able to synchronize between devices. (The free version is good enough for me).
