A teacher is a person who teaches, especially one employed in a school. A teacher does the job of mentorship for the students under him. A teacher is a tutor. A teacher is one of the person who add values to their pupils as a result of the numbers of hours spent together on a daily base in the school environment. A teacher is a model of good conduct and values system. A teacher is a guider. A teacher is an academician.
A high school teacher is a secondary school teacher or a college teacher as it is called over here in Nigeria. A high school teacher is that one person believed to have his reward of labour in heaven in this part of the globe(Nigeria) especially in the rural areas. A high school teacher is that person who gives so much out to the pupil and gets change as salary or wage (little income). Imagine a teacher collecting #200 naira as daily pay ($0.67).
One of the sectors that adds so much values to the society, and the government don't see them as people that needs to be treated with maximum respect and care. This is the sector that produces the professional giant we all know of in our society yet no body care about how they fare. When talking about the medical doctors, engineers, lawyers, bankers, pilot, politicians etc. We can see that these are all products of one high school teacher or the other.
In the early days of education in my country Nigeria, the teacher are treated like gods then, cause of their innovative commitment to their teaching job and to their students. They are giving there maximum respect and honour, even though the people believed that their reward is in heaven. In those days, we can see teachers with passion and dedication. But now, most people become teachers because of lack of job in the society of ours.
But nowadays, the respect of school teacher is gradually dying out in most schools. You can see a situation where both the students and their parents want to fight with the teacher because the teacher disciplined that child. No more respect for school teacher again.
My experience as a school teacher as been awesome indeed. You have to get to school before the student, make your lesson plans and notes. You have to make sure you write with good handwriting on the board. Study and get yourself prepared at least before every lessons or class commence. Teaching a subject like physics and mathematics as not been easy especially in this rural community where you need to explain and explain, all you'll get is 'sir I don't understand', and you still have to explain again. I've learnt so much as a result of my 6months experience as a teacher: like the teacher students relationship, parent teacher relationship, staff relationship and so on.
I'm of the opinion that the government should see into the academic sector and correct the horrible mess. Good and well trained teachers should be employed and not lazy group of people.
At the school staff room or staff office preparing for our first morning class. Myself and @okoro telling more of our staffs and colleagues about Steemit.
