This is a saying in and of my home town, Vienna, Austria. It translates to

It's a toung-in-cheeck line stemming from the city vs. countryside enemyship and refering to how grumpy and annoying the Viennese are (supposedly), while the city as such is undeniably great.

The industry is what floods those rankings with relatively easy to learn and most practical gadgets. Tools that enable people to get hired by companies that want their product shipped in time.
