Project SWAMI Synopsis

In an apocalyptic future the remnants of a decrepit society face a catastrophic celestial bombardment from cosmic debris flung into the inner solar system by a mysterious convulsion emanating from deep within the asteroid belt.

Reports from what few observatories remain all predict the arrival of a devastating hail of meteorites in matter of weeks and with it the complete annihilation of all complex life on Earth.

Having long ago lost the technology and infrastructure necessary to defend against such a cataclysm and with their social structure on the verge of collapse, their only hope rests with the SWAMI, a cloistered techno-religious order, forged in the pandemonium of the AI Wars and established as the world's spiritual council after successfully mediating a peace accord between the warring factions decades ago.

The SWAMI -- at first reluctant to interfere with what they see as a natural 'recycling' event -- agree to help the desperate population using their advanced technology and apparent supernatural abilities to undertake an ambitious timeline manipulation project.

Cheered on by a near-crazed community -- now stabilised by a glimmer of hope -- the SWAMI set out to alter past events through a temporal consciousness-imprinting process, targeting individuals throughout history in the hope of nudging the timeline and avoiding the technological regression which now threatens Earth's survival.

The imprinting process is fatal to all twelve SWAMI but manages to instill the unsuspecting historical targets with an instinct to change the course of the past whilst also gifting them unique super-normal abilities to aid them in their mission.

However, the project is a complete failure as it is discovered that the historical targets are morally corrupted by the imprinting process and the power it has bestowed on them and they may in fact be the very agents that have assured Earth’s future destruction.

"Is destiny unchangeable?"; "Did the SWAMI betray us?"; "Can we survive underground?" the last inhabitants of Earth frantically ponder these questions without answer or consolation as they await their fiery fate at the end of the world, unaware of the true effect the SWAMI's historical manipulations.

And so ensues an eons-long conflict between forces fighting for mankind's survival and those fighting against it, in a drama involving not just the human species but those of competing past and future species.

Each episode of the series tells the story from the perspective of a SWAMI agent (an imprinted individual) from different periods throughout history, as their actions influence and interact to reveal the tragedy of the human race, the SWAMI and ultimately the planet, as they dance towards their prophesied fate.
