In this presentation I show you how to redeem, and use your Steem tokens.
Once again, my name is Jacques, and you can find me @bluabaleno on the Steem Blockchain.
Just a small disclaimer before we move on: I'll not be covering the business or technical aspects of Steem in this presentation. There will be future presentations on those topics in the coming weeks.
Last time we talked about how to gaining access to the Steem blockchain, the various keys and their uses.
We also talked about how to post your content on the Steem blockchain, and the various platforms for your specific content category.
If you missed that presentation, you can watch the video below or read it in text here.
And in video
In this presentation, we'll go over how to claim the various Steem tokens you've earned from your content.
What the differences between these tokens, and what you can use them for on the platform.
And finally, we'll go into how you can exchange your Steem tokens for Euros or other goods and services.
Claiming your token is as simple as pressing a button.
Under the wallet tab on Steemit.com, click claim rewards. Once you did, the reward will be added to your wallet balance.
When claiming your rewards, you will be paid half in liquid Steem (Steem and Steem Backed Dollars) and half in staked Steem (Steem Power).
Liquid Steem are Steem tokens that can transferred to another account instantly, and without any fees.
Staked Steem cannot be transferred to another account. Though it can be delegated. More on that in just a bit.
You might have noticed there are what looks like three tokens on the Steem blockchain.
But they are actually one and the same.
Steem tokens are the underlying tokens of the blockchain.
Steem Backed Dollars, or SBD, is a financial contract that guarantees at least one US Dollar worth of Steem tokens at whenever time you decide to redeem it.
SP, or Steem Power is Steem tokens that has been committed to the network and cannot be liquidated for a period of thirteen weeks.
You can easily send your Steem or SBD to any other user on the Steem blockchain. There is no fees involved and it is almost instantaneous.
You can also exchange Steem or SBD for national currencies.
Steem is ranked 27th on Coinmarketcap and can be traded in most major exchanges.
SBD is ranked 264th, and are traded only on a limited number of exchanges, including the internal exchange on the Steem Blockchain.
Staked Steem tokens grants you power on the network. You now can direct a portion of the public fund for content producers.
You can also vote for who gets to be a Witness. A Witness is someone who maintains the network.
You have done enough and now you wish to go back into the real, exchanging your Steem tokens for things in the real world.
This is a relatively simple process. And if you happen to be in Lisbon, you can redeem at the physical brokerage @theblockcafe or pay for your meal at @pacodarainha
