Currently Indian government introduced the Citizen amendment Act which gives citizenship to refugees from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan. This will be offered for only Hindus,Sikhs,Christians and Buddhists.
Why some people protesting
Some group of people are against this act as they claiming that it was made on lines of religion and it is against the Secularity of Indian Constitution. They are also interpreting it that this is a initiative which follows by National register of citizen (NRC) to evacuate Muslims from out of the country.
Truths!
Bangladesh, afginistan and Pakistan are Muslim majority countries and specially Pakistan & Afghanistan practice Sharia law which terms other religion people as infidels and restrict them in every way. If they suspect that any minority commented against the law, simply bring them under the blasphemy crime and put to the death row.
Afghanistan got only 0.03 % minorities and Pakistan has 4%. These are very very negligible things when compared to india's population and number of illegal immigrants living in India. These are mostly Hindus and Christians who have slight roots in India, and living with fear constantly.
Although India already facing the problem of illegal immigrants issue by rohingyas from Myanmar which is expected that there are around 40000 living in different cities from past 3 years. This decision made it even bad for the Assam state people who are worrying about the change in demography with arrival of these immigrants.
Other side Story and Myths
While the protests of Assam people is totally against to the CAA, rest of protests in India have a interesting angle.
These protests are mainly leading by leftists and self proclaimed liberals & seculars. Their main demand is Muslim category must be added in the CAA and also give citizenship for the Muslim immigrants, Government is planning to bring NRC and evacuate the Muslims under it because they don't have proper documents which show they arrived India before 1971. Even others don't have these documents they can claim under citizenship under CAA but which Muslims are not eligible. I wonder how can we give citizenship to the Muslims who are coming from Muslim majority countries where they demands Sharia law.
Debunking Myths
The mentioned 1971 is there in Assam accord where it says who arrived in Assam after 1971 are not natives of state. So now the protests wrongly brining this 1971 in to the NRC which even government not disclosed or discussed any thing and spreading hatred and rumours that Prime minister Modi acting like Hitler and will sent all Muslim to detention camps.
My interpretation of protests
Government has taken some strong decisions regarding issues like kashmir problem and brought Triple talaq law which bothering the Islam institutions which uses them to gain support form their religion followers.
So as they found this opportunity and trying to take maligning the Modi and opposition party Congress which suffering from continous failures, loosing followership among citizens joined along with them to started protests.
As there is no sign of Majority supported BJP government stepping down in coming years, they are trying every opportunity to increase their vote bank instead of fighting real issues like economy, unemployment and hunger & poverty.
I see and feel that the majority people which consists Hindus who are silent again go and vote for BJP only for atleast to not to give chance to any party which speak against them or Hinduism lightly or to play minority appeasement politics. They are no longer want to entertain who mocks their culture in their own country while Muslims and Christians themselves having Islam, church restricted countries.
This is the same reason why Donald Trump having big flaws in leadership won the election. Both Modi and trump talks about majority people, nationalism and boast about their respective armies.
Yestarday in the prime minister Modi declared that no Indian will be deported or comes under the CAA or drafting of NRC is started yet. Keeping the slogans in protests in mind he also quoted that no single Muslim of India will touched with these laws.
However seriously most of the Indians are not aware of the total details in the act and believing , interpretating what ever they are feed by media which is either biased, under control of political parties.
Hope government takes initiative and clear all the rumours about the NRC as soon as possible and we can move forward to solve other major problems in India. These protests supporting or against the act only making our country looks bad and intolerant in newspapers in world.
