Prophecies of Jeremiah: I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against me. Jeremiah 33:8

Jeremiah in the Bible was in a certain sense a prefiguration of Jesus and because of his prophetic activity he is recognized as the suffering servant.
With his prophecies, Jeremiah anticipated the fall of the Kingdom of Judah before King Hezekiah, who because of his foolishness rejected all the counsels of Jeremiah and put him in prison. Furthermore, the prophet Jeremiah had to face false prophets who gave lying visions that gave a wrong sense of security to the people. The Lord had chosen Jeremiah to be the examiner of his people: "I have made you a tester of metals and my people the ore, that you may observe and test their ways" Jeremiah 6:27.
But Jeremiah also prophesied that after the purification of the exile in Babilon a new alliance would emerge between the nation of Israel and God. Over time these prophecies were reinterpreted, and for Christians this new alliance meant an announcement about the birth of Jesus.
This is why in the gospels the message of Jesus was more than anything a message to the heirs of Abraham according to the flesh; only after his death and resurrection, with the birth of the Church, was the message of the Kingdom addressed to the children of Abraham according to the spirit.
With these words, Jeremiah prophesied this new alliance based on the forgiveness and love of Jesus:
"I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against me. Then this city will bring me renown, joy, praise and honor before all nations on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it; and they will be in awe and will tremble at the abundant prosperity and peace I provide for it" Jeremiah 33:8-9.
