This console is an additional step over the PS4, which by the way remains an excellent gaming machine. PS5 takes the experience to the next level. For the cost of a mediocre PC it is possible to enter the world of top gaming and with the prospect of future exclusive games that only a Japanese house like Sony knows how to offer. In fact, the launch a few days ago of Ratchet & Clink Rift Apart, as well as Spider Man Miles Morales and Demon's Souls, foreshadows just that: a continuous stream of great exclusives playing in parallel with the games all other publishers release for multiple platforms.
A word also for the controller: it is a marvel of engineering and ergonomics that contributes to making the PS5 the best solution in this regard. By comparison, the next-gen Xbox controller adds little to the previous one. Finally, the ability for gamers to have access to much of the PlayStation library, built up over the last few decades and used by generations and generations of gamers, is an additional plus point. I strongly advise the purchase of the console with BluRay disc, in order to be able to purchase used games on disc at very affordable prices.
In short, the new PS5 is a consistent, integrated and affordable proposition for next-gen gaming. I wish you the queen scepter of the new generation. It's just a pity that this portent is not available in adequate quantities given the demand.
