Daily Bible Reading: "The LORD is my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear?", Psalm 27:1

in psalm •  4 years ago

The function of light is to illuminate, and with light we perceive things as they are, in the dark we do not perceive the things that surround us and we cannot walk, if we do we stumble, we fall. Darkness is the deprivation and absence of light.
In an analogous way we also say that there is a spiritual light and a spiritual darkness.
In life we see people who do their tasks badly or leave them half finished, people who expect everything from others and little from themselves, people who stay in their world of comforts and their comfortable lives, people who judge harshly to the others but who are permissive with themselves. This is what defines people who live in spiritual darkness.
But there are others who, on the other hand, are different, they are people who accept difficulties no matter how small or great, who do not quail when the situation gets difficult, who are constant and determined, who do not get sad when the situation is bitter or sad, nor are they exaggerated when things are going well. These are the ones who live in spiritual light. What chance did Joan of Arc, a humble peasant woman, have of fulfilling her mission to crown the Dolphin as King of France?
The Bible teaches us that God is the source of that spiritual light that illuminates reason, gives it guidance, and allows it to make the correct decisions at the correct time. And not only that, it is also the source of salvation, that is, of the fullness of spiritual goods in man:
"The LORD is my light and my salvation —
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life —
of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1

God is that eternal and uncreated wisdom, which subsists by itself, and which men who fear God must reach through devotion and constancy.
