Emotional hygiene is a topic you hardly hear of or most likely haven't even heard of, most times it is deemed unimportant as opposite to its counterparts personal hygiene / dental hygiene/grooming.
But just as you would brush your teeth daily and obviously take a bath, emphasis should also be laid on monitoring and improving your psychological well-being.
For a start, engage in more positive self-talk (daily), there are already enough people talking sh*t about you why add yourself to the list.
I try every day to put a smile on someone ELSE's face - it inevitably puts one on mine. Two people benefit.
Now that's emotional hygiene!
