The basic needs, identified by Maslow as factors that influence motivation, are widely accepted, although the hierarchical aspects of these needs may be questionable.
This theory gives us the idea of a cycle, the Motivational Cycle.
When the motivational cycle does not take place, there comes the frustration of the individual, who can assume various attitudes:
- a. Illogical or non-normal behavior;
- b. Aggression for not being able to give vent to the contained dissatisfaction;
- c. Nervousness, insomnia, circulatory/digestive disorders;
- d. Lack of interest in the tasks or objectives;
- e. Passivity, low morale, ill will, pessimism, resistance to modifications, insecurity, non-cooperation, etc.
When the need is not met and the above situations do not happen, it does not mean that the individual will remain eternally frustrated.
Somehow the need will be transferred or compensated.
Hence it is perceived that motivation is a cyclical and constant state in personal life.
Maslow's theory is known as one of the most important theories of motivation.
The needs of human beings obey a hierarchy, that is, a scale of values to be transposed.
This means that the moment the individual realizes a need, another appears in their place, always demanding that people seek ways to satisfy it.
