Hypnosis is a trance-like condition in which a person's thoughts and actions are controlled. Hypnosis includes two people: the patient, who is being experimented on, and the hypnotist, who is doing the experimenting.

The hypnotist attempts to elicit a reaction from the patient by putting her into a trance, which is commonly referred to as hypnotized. One of the world's most controversial sciences is hypnosis. This field of research is rife with hypotheses. Essentially, there are two schools of thought on whether hypnosis is a state of mind or not: one claims it is, while the other claims it is not.

State theorists contend that the mind may be made to behave differently. In another way, the practitioner can transport the subject's mind to another dimension and exert control over it. Non-state theorists assert that hypnosis may be witnessed as the climax of focus or attention rather than a transition of the mind into another state, as some would have you believe. However, knowing that hypnosis is an induction and observation process suffices for now.

Hypnosis is shrouded in myth and misunderstanding. Others believe that hypnosis cannot be used on people with a strong will because of their strong resistance. On the other hand, hypnosis proponents believe that people with high levels of self-control make good subjects. Their superior intellect accounts for this.

Hypnosis has been studied extensively. Hypnosis is sometimes dismissed as a science unto itself. For years, researchers have been sifting through many hypnosis techniques, searching for the one that works best. Some have successfully used words, while others have used triggers such as a clock or a pendulum to achieve their goals.

Many uses of hypnosis are being developed for the treatment of patients. For instance, hypnotherapy falls under this category. Certain practitioners use this method to treat individuals with psychological issues. Another use for hypnosis is clinical hypnosis.

Clinical hypnosis practitioners claim that they can use clinical hypnosis to heal and cure physical and mental diseases. Prayers or magic performances may use mass hypnosis. Forensic hypnosis is hypnosis used in the field of forensics. It's used in processes, but it's also acceptable from a legal standpoint.
