The most common disorder of speech is Dyslalia, it is characterized by the inability pronunciation of the sounds f, r, c, g, t, s, z, and j, b, d, t, m, n, a, e, u.
If these speech difficulties are not resolved until the age of 4 years, consult a speech therapist who will develop a program to correct speech defects adapted to the individual characteristics of the child. Although many of these problems are resolved without the intervention of a specialist applying some special techniques, there are some tips that you can follow both to prevent speech problems and to correct them, eventually completing meetings with speech therapist.
Some advices to correct efficiently speaking children:
- Speak as often as you can with the little one, encourage him to ask questions.
- Develope the jaw muscles and the tongue muscles of the child: vigorous chewing food, rinsing the mouth, swelling of the cheeks.
- Read with your child daily poems and short stories.
- Speak correctly, clearly as possible. Repeat several times a word or phrase, changing the place of words.
- Unwind with child activities designed to develop the skills and fine motor skills.
- If your child stutters, can be obtained good results in correcting this defect with hours of music, because they contribute to the development of breathing during speech, the tempo and rhythm.
- Do not force the child. These meetings should not last more than 15-20 minutes.
In the video at the bottom, it is presented a "play" - learn the "F" sound by playing- making bubbles. I use what children likes to make therapy more interactive and attractive for him.
Try to turn the therapy into an exciting game to create a friendly atmosphere, quiet and encouraging, which will predispose the child to reach good results.
