Use the famous mirror neurons to increase your empathy ...
The discovery of mirror neurons was established by Giacomo Rizzolatti (1990) and his team of neuroscientists.
These neurons are located in the frontal part of the brain, in the frontal lobe (intervenes mainly in planning, language and voluntary movement).
In this frontal lobe, there are also neurons called ordinary motor control neurons, which were identified more than 50 years ago.
These neurons will be activated when a person performs a specific task. If I extend my arm and drink a glass, a motor neuron will be activated.
If I move my arm, another motor neuron will be activated, ordering me to bring this object. Therefore, these neurons have been known for a long time.
What Giacomo and his team discovered is that some of these neurons (20%) will also be activated if I see another person perform the same action.
Therefore, these neurons work in the same way if they are performed or if we observe someone performing the action:
So, it's about mirror neurons!
It is they who allow us to imitate, adopt the point of view of others.
In what mirror neurons are important?
In our evolution, these neurons are of the utmost importance, for their change!
YOU have learned to use tools to imitate, YOU have learned to speak imitating.
The human being has learned to use fire imitating.
From an empathic point of view, their role is also essential. We are aware of the emotions and behaviors of others through them.
We "put ourselves in the place of" thanks to these mirror neurons.
When watching a boxing match, for example, one can feel great empathy for the athletes,
a football match, for example.Enthusiasts can feel deep in themselves sadness during a defeat or a great joy for victory.
That's why emotions are contagious!
We are never spectators, finally. We (re) act when others (re) act!
What can be learned from these mirror neurons?
Never forget the existence of these neurons when you interact with someone.
In my opinion :
It is our duty to develop a positive attitude, since our state of mind depends on that of others.
Efforts must be made to put in the place of the other, to develop a sense of empathy (and, therefore, use their mirror neurons)
One should never forget that the best learning is others.
Do you have examples / suggestions about the power that these neurons can have in our lives?
