What's tennis elbow? Write in your own words after getting knowledge from the lesson post.
Tennis elbow, also known as( lateral epicondylitis) is a condition that can result from overuse of the muscles and tendons in the elbow.
There is a tissue that connects the forearm muscles to the elbow repetitive twist and arm motion can irritate the tissue resulting to tennis elbow causing pain which is the primary symptom.
causes
• the excessive force used to bend the wrist toward the palm, this likely happens to people that play sports example tennis.
• Repetitive incorrect movements of the arm (poor posture)can lead to small tears in the tendon attachment at the elbow.
• people that age are above 50 tend to experience tennis
elbow because wear and tear occur due to degenerative changes in tendons and muscles around the elbow region.
Symptoms
• Pain is the primary symptom tiny tears and longtime swelling, known as inflammation, can cause the tendon to break down this causes the pain.
• Burning, or an ache along the outside of the forearm and elbow it get worse and spread down to the wrist if the activity that causes the condition still continues.
• Pain while grasping or and lifting heavy objects.
Types of Tennis Elbow
• Acute
When the sudden pain which is the primary symptoms occur due to trauma or injury, this symptoms does not persevere for a long period of time.
• Chronic Tennis Elbow
This is when they symptoms prolongs due to irritative tissue caused by a overused or repetitive strain.
This symptoms usually last for weeks or months.
• Radial Tunnel syndrome
Radial Tunnel Syndrome is caused by repetitive motion injury,
• posterior interosseous
Posterior interosseous nerve syndrome is one of the pathologies that can cause lateral elbow pain In early stages, both diagnosis may present with similar presentations with dorsal forearm pain and pain with resisted wrist extension.
How would you diagnose a tennis elbow? Any clinical investigation or assessment tests?
healthcare provider can often diagnosis the tennis elbow with a physical exam In some cases certain tests such as: An X-ray may be needed. This is to look at the bones of the elbow.
Other test may include;
• Cozen Test. This test consists of evaluating the isometric resistance of the wrist extensor muscles.
• Mill Test.
• Maudsley Test.
• Maximum Grip Strength Pain-free.
• Patient Rated tennis elbow evaluation questionnaire.
Try to practice at least 3 exercises that you have learned from the lesson. Share images, gifs or videos while practicing preferably gifs or videos.
Wrist Isometric Exercises
https://youtube.com/shorts/tl2YhIkF-0I?si=I6PJeu35Kva-SgUz
isometric exercises are performed in different directions to strengthen the wrist and forearm muscles.this exercise is to strengthen each muscles and in each direction, the link above shows how i performed this exercise.
Wrist Flexors Stretch
https://youtube.com/shorts/I898aUC68VY?si=7McA59g-ch2ltf94
This exercise improve the length of shortened muscles for pain compensation. It also improve mobility and flexibility
Finger Stretch
https://youtube.com/shorts/-8QV0qrSF_o?si=jQ9jd7PqkvJAXozL
This exercise also help to improve shortened muscles and most importantly it improves finger mobility and gripping ability.
Share your review after performing these exercises either on yourself, healthy individual or patient.
After i performed the 3 exercises i was seriously sweating this exercise deals mostly with the muscle, so since tennis elbow has to do with the tissue that connects the forearm to the elbow, when this is irritated some of the muscle will be shortened resulting to intense pain. Having to perform this exercise i noticed it mostly drag the muscle which i learnt from this module that exercise will help improve the shortened muscles somehow taking a rest is also important to relax the muscle but exercise as the most effective treatment for healing.
This is my review after performing the 3 exercises.
I will love to invite @dequeen @alysaa @bevicsam to participate in this contest thank you.

Thank you for understanding the lesson and sharing your assignment; I hope that you will enjoy this week's lesson and try to implement it in your life if you see any such case.
Observations
Task 1 (3/3)
You have shared a great knowledge about tennis elbow, its symptoms, cause, it's types. That's good you explain the types of tennis elbow. I appreciate your effort.
Task 2 (2.5/3)
In the second question, you tell us about how you have to assess a patient by doing physical examination, history taking, special tests and investigations. It would be better to add explanation of special tests and investigations too. Good.
Task 3 (4/4)
You try the finger stretches, wrist flexor stretch, and wrist isometric exercises. You did the finger stretches, wrist flexor stretch correctly. Always remember to apply heat pack in chronic condition and ice pack in acute condition before performing exercises to relax the muscles and reduce stiffness. I appreciate your efforts.
Overall you made a great attempt to answer all the questions. I appreciate your efforts. But next time try to avoid the above written suggestions. Keep learning and try to implement your knowledge to the people suffering from tennis elbow or any type of wrist. Thank you.
